About retrocamper.ie
What we are
retrocamper.ie is an independent editorial website covering the classic campervan and retro-conversion scene in Ireland. We write buying guides, restoration advice, route notes, and community coverage — all from an Irish perspective.
We exist because the Irish classic-camper community has no dedicated editorial home. The excellent UK publications (Camper & Bus, VW Camper magazine) cover Ireland incidentally at best. The Irish-specific stuff — VRT when importing, post-Brexit parts sourcing, finding an Irish specialist who actually knows T2s, insuring a restored classic in Ireland — lives scattered across Facebook groups and forums. We bring it together in one place.
Editorial standards
Every named business in our directory has been independently WebSearch-verified at the time of writing. We do not publish fabricated owner stories or invented listings. If we reference a specific business or person, they are real and we have verified their existence and activity.
We are independent of all suppliers, conversion companies, and parts retailers listed on this site. Listings are not paid placements. See our disclosure policy for full details of how we earn revenue.
Updates and corrections
Prices change. Businesses close and open. Rules change (VRT, customs duty, insurance products). We update our guides when we become aware of significant changes, but we cannot guarantee that all information is current at the time you read it.
If you spot an error, outdated information, or a business that has closed — please let us know. We update our guides based on reader feedback.
Sister sites
retrocamper.ie is part of a small network of Irish editorial sites covering adjacent topics. Our sister sites include campers.ie (modern campervan hire in Ireland) and vanlife.ie (Irish van life resource).
